The instructions are tested on Windows XP (that's what I use). So, the Vista instructions might be a little different, but fixing BitDefender is based on editing the Hosts file, so BitDefender can't validate your license. In this 2009 version, the BitDefender guys got a little smart and made it so that they would change the Hosts file BACK (after blocking BitDefender), so that they COULD check your license. That's why you have to go through those extra steps to set security; so BitDefender can't change your Hosts file back.
Sadly, this means that you will lose the ability to edit your Hosts file. If you use MVPS Hosts or a third-party Hosts file for added security, you will not be able to update the Hosts file to get the latest security.
